Knightly News Web Edition
My Dear Brothers in Christ,

I pray that all our Brother Knights and their loved ones are doing well. I pray for those Brothers and their
loved ones that are sick or in distress that they will be healed and that those that care for them will be
comforted and consoled. I pray for those Brother Knights or their loved ones who have passed away that
they will be in heaven and those left behind will be comforted and consoled as well.

We got the results of the Fiesta on Hill this past month, the Knights did not fair well in this fund raiser but
fun and laughter was had by all. Perhaps it was the weather, the economy, or whatever, the turnout was not
there in terms of numbers or Brother Knight participation. The Ladies Auxiliary did not do well either. We
might have to reevaluate our participation options in the future.

Hopefully, some of you were able to help out at the Habitat for Humanity home building off of Old Pearsal l
Road. There is still this coming Friday, October 14, and a possible makeup day of October 21. I was able to
participate in the home building September 30 and October 7. It was very rewarding and fulfilling.
Unfortunately, Fridays are not very good for most people. Volunteers can still show up on any Saturday.

This coming weekend of October 15-16 will be our Membership Drive and Blitz. One of two held during
the Fraternal Year. Please help if you can after whatever mass you attend. Our Worthy Membership Director
and Advocate, Jim Palinkas will be there. Despite a few new members that signed up, we are still on the
negative as far as membership goals established by Supreme and State.

Unfortunately out fall Tootsie Roll Drive has been postponed without a future date. We also have our
upcoming Texas Hold ‘Em this Saturday, Oct 22. We are in great need help, especially for card dealers.
Novice card dealers are welcomed, training will be provided, call me or Brother Tony Razzino for more
information.

See you at the General Meeting.

Fraternally,
Bob Mancillas
Grand Knight

have any suggestions for that evening please contact
Brother
Steve or bring up during the general meeting on October 25.
October Taco Breakfast Sells Out
The Breakfast Team did exceptionally well on our Taco
Breakfast. We made 600 taco's and sold all of them. Thanks
for all who participated in making this a total success. In
order to be so successful, we needed a great team effort.

A special thanks to the following: Brother Daniel Losoya
made the Picadillo (Maria made it, Daniel was sleeping, I
was told) Brother Mike Rendon for donating his 30th
birthday Brisket, and Brother George Vincent for
getting breakfast supplies together.

Next month Brother George will be heading the breakfast
and I know we will be in for a new treat. Please support him
as you do to all.
Final Blood Drive – November 20

Health Director Brother Wes Athey reminds all KCs and
their families to reserve the date of Sunday, November for

Support for Rite of Christian Initiation Adult (RCIA)

Brother John Martinez and his wife Rose up the Council’s support of the Rite of Christian Initiation Adult (RCIA) for St.
Helena’s. We provide refreshments for RCIA candidates each Sunday from September through December. Brothers are asked to
donate $5 or more to defray the costs, which are not included in the Council budget. Thanks to generous support in prior years, our
treasury has a balance carried over from last year’s program, but we are still short of our budget of $800.

Donations may be made at monthly council meetings or by check made out to “KofC Council 7965” and mailed to Financial
Secretary Brother Wayne Borgmann. His address is provided on the back of your membership card.

Prayer for the sick

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch,
or weep tonight, and give your angels charge
over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake. Amen.
