Knights of Columbus Council #7965
St. Helena Roman Catholic Church
14714 Edgemont St San Antonio, TX 78247
Knightly News Web Edition
Worthy Brothers in Christ,

I pray that all our Brother Knights and their families are well. I pray also for the Healing of those Brothers
and their loved ones who
are sick or in distress. Easter is behind us with all that that entails – the sacrifice,
the doing without of things that we like, and the
anticipation of the Resurrection. We long for the Ascension
and Pentecost to fulfill our Lord’s wish for us.

Along those lines, our council’s delegation just got back from the State Convention, invigorated and full of
hope for the coming
fraternal year. New state officers have been elected. A lot of worthy and talented
people have assumed new positions in our state
offices. The one most notable right here at home is the
acceptance of our Archbishop Gustavo as the new State Chaplain.
Delegates have been chosen, our own
Brother Richard Moreno is an alternate to the Supreme Convention in Anaheim, California.

A follow up to that is the fact the next year, Supreme will have their convention is our own town in 2013. Even though Supreme
sends their own people to make all the arrangements, the local councils will most
likely be asked to provide manpower and
possibly funds to augment this international event. 2013 will also
be the close of the two year Marian Prayer Program honoring
Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The Icon or Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be in our parish beginning Monday, May 21 in the
Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
This is the Icon that we have been waiting for since we first heard of it back in
October 2012. One Friday, 25 May, at 7PM we hope
to have a special Marian Celebration in the Church to
honor Our Blessed Mother. I hope that all Brothers that can, be there with
their maroon shirts. We hope to
have a special procession prior to the service.

As some of you have already heard our Tootsie Roll Drive was moved from 19 to 26 May, it is still on
Saturday. I sincerely
apologize for a change that was beyond our Chapters’ control. We are all aware that
that is the long weekend, but I am hoping
those Brothers that volunteered and have no other engagements,
show up. Those Brothers that are here in town please show up
and lend support and reliefs for those
standing out in the streets.

Please show up for the upcoming elections. Nominate other candidates or lend your support to your best
candidate.

Fraternally,
Bob Mancillas
Grand Knight

Prayer for the sick

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch,
or weep tonight, and give your angels charge
over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake. Amen.
